No matter the setting we choose to birth, there is an essence inside all women longing to shed the ‘good girl’ persona, which has been ingrained in us for generations. More women are seeking to consciously make choices to do things our own way. Let’s begin to shed the ‘wishing’ we had listened to our instincts.
Welcome, I’m Debra Pintley.
I am a mother, wife, and woman devoted to the cycles that shape us — from girlhood to womanhood, pregnancy to birth, and the ongoing evolution of motherhood and family life.
I live in South-West Sydney with my husband Jason and our four children — Ruby, Henry, Emily, and Thomas. Together, we are walking the homeschooling journey, which continues to be both deeply rewarding and humbling as we learn and grow alongside our children.
My work is rooted in supporting women and girls through life’s most significant transitions. I am passionate about providing holistic doula support, birth education and guiding young girls through their first experiences of menstruation in a way that feels informed, positive, and grounded.
Through Renegade Cycles, I hold space for these rites of passage to be understood, honoured, and supported — not rushed through or feared, but recognised as powerful thresholds of becoming.
Becoming a mother in 2013 opened a new world for me, prompting me to reflect on my birth experience and my value as a woman in society. I began to realise that I navigated the birth process reasonably unscathed. This led me to question whether I was just "lucky" as many suggested or if there was something more profound. The birth of Ruby reflected my independent nature and lack of trust in aspects of the medical system. So, in becoming hyper-vigilant in not allowing the system to groom me, it turned out to be my biggest superpower without my conscious awareness. This was a huge trigger for me, and I started to develop my skills in how to be a strong, thoughtful, and sovereign mother. Her birth was only one aspect of the journey; I was responsible for the health outcomes of my daughter, and I wanted to be able to make every decision from a space of knowledge and intuition rather than reflective obedience based on fear.
In 2012, I was studying nursing when NSW health changed some regulations, and I couldn’t complete my last 2 units of study. The universe gave me a sign that I needed to align myself on a different path. Yes, my passion did change after Ruby’s birth. The more mothers I spoke with, the more I started to notice patterns around pregnancy, birth, and motherhood. I felt the call to be sharing my knowledge with women who have their inner knowing sparking but were unsure of the path or the options to achieve their desires with confidence. After years of informal support and guidance for mothers, I formalised my commitment to this calling in March 2021 when I completed my certification as a Holistic Doula under the guidance of Jo Spies at New Beginnings.
I have birthed two children in hospital and two children at home. I understand how to navigate the hospital system, if that is your choice of birth, and I know how to be with a mother in a homebirth and freebirth environment. I have personally found that with each birth comes a new wave of learning, and when you are willing to hear the information coming through, you begin to change the trajectory of your own life and for the greater sisterhood.
I am passionate about guiding women to honour themselves and their choice of birth. Truth, transparency, and empowerment are at the core of my approach. By fostering an environment of trust and open communication, I aim to empower you to make informed decisions that align with your values and desires. My commitment is to provide unwavering support, compassionate guidance, and a deep understanding of the birthing process. Together, we will navigate this transformative journey with confidence and grace, ensuring that you feel empowered and respected as you bring new life into the world.
Renegade Doula is dedicated to reigniting the spark within every woman and nurturing a profound sense of inner self-trust. I am deeply passionate about each birthing mother reclaiming her birthing rite of passage with complete autonomy. Now is your time to reconnect and listen to your intuitive self during pregnancy, childbirth, and beyond. I support women to honour the innate wisdom of her body and embracing the unique journey of motherhood. The process offers invaluable guidance, support, and empowerment, that enables mothers to navigate this transformative experience with heightened confidence and authenticity.
Renegade Cycles supports mothers and maidens through First Moon Circles. It is time to bring together mothers and daughters approaching their first menarche to create a supported experience by conveying positive messages and weaving stories to empower young women. My desire is to educate generations of maidens to advocate for themselves clearly, unapologetically, without hesitation or shame.
I don’t know what I would have done without Debra. After wanting to give birth as naturally as I could, I was kicked out of the hospital for refusing to get induced. I gave Debra a call. She helped me remain calm and said she’d meet me at my house to get me back into a safe place and transition to active labor. Debra helped prepare an after-birth plan with my husband, and she guided me to stay as calm as possible and breathe correctly. A few hours later, on my toilet, I felt the ring of fire, and Debra caught my baby as I stood up. I felt so comfortable with Debra, and I knew I was in great hands. Debra is full of knowledge and experience as a doula.
I can’t recommend Debra enough! You get GENUINE. You get KNOWLEDGE. You get TRUST. You get HONESTY. You get CONTROL. You get SUPPORT. You get LOYALTY. You get CONFIDENCE. You get CALM. You get a FRIEND. I know this because this is what I got. I thank you Debra for my beautiful birthing experience.
I had such an incredible birth experience. In the midst of Covid and lockdown I took the decision to birth at home. Deb made me feel at ease from our very first consultation, even though I was a little uneasy with the fact I was well into my 3rd trimester. The day of my birth, Deb made it over fast and absolutely made me feel empowered to be confident and to listen to my body. That is exactly what I ended up doing! I caught my own baby…. just wow an experience like no other. I’m super excited to have the full experience again and Deb will be my doula for my 4th baby due in Nov 2024.
